Frequently asked Questions

Q)   Can anyone hold a meeting at the Tait-Duke Community Cottage ?
A)   The Tait-Duke Community Cottage has been established to provide local community groups and not-for-profit organisations with an affordable meeting place, and an information centre for our Community support groups.  All are welcome within this category.  Unsure ?  Please contact tdcc.rotarynh@gmail.com

Q)   How long or short can my bookings be ?  Can I book a recurring meeting ?
A)   Bookings can be made in hourly increments, up to full day meetings.   Recurring meetings can also be booked, with a weekly or a monthly frequency and up to one year in advance.   To allow us to accommodate as broad and as inclusive number of community groups, the Tait-Duke Community Cottage does not accommodate multi-day events on a routine basis.  Please check with tdcc.rotarynh@gmail.com to see whether there is the capacity to accommodate an exception.

Q)   How many people can the Tait-Duke Community Cottage accommodate.
A)   The Cottage can accommodate 30 people with table seating, 50 people with a seated / standing mix.

Q) Is the Tait-Duke Community Cottage wheelchair accessible / friendly ?
A) Yes - the cottage has ramp access and wheelchair friendly toilet facilities.

Q)  Can I see if the Tait-Duke Community Cottage is available for the dates I want ?
A)   Yes - please refer to the Calendar section of this website.  Please allow 30 minutes between bookings to ensure a smooth meeting start and closing.

Q)   Is it possible to rent a portion of the Tait-Duke Community Cottage ?
A)   No, the layout of the Cottage does not allow for this.  There is space to accommodate break-out groups and the Cottage does allow for flexible seating and table configurations but is not suitable for sharing by different groups or organizations.

Q)   How much does it cost to rent the cottage ?  How do I pay ?
A)    Please refer to the Rates page on this website for the most up-to-date pricing.   At present payment is required by bank transfer once the booking is confirmed, and ahead the meeting.   In the future we expect to also offer a simple online payment through PayPal.  A refundable deposit/bond is not required.

Q)   Is there car parking at Tait-Duke Community Cottage ?
A)   Yes there is limited car parking available immediately in front of the Cottage on Earl Street.  If the group is large please consider car-pooling.

Q)    What technology does the Tait-Duke Community Cottage provide ?   Does it have a computer or projector for use ?  Is wifi internet access provided ?
A)    A computer is not provided however a 50" television screen is available for use.  Presenters will need to bring their own computing device and either an HDMI or VGA cable to connect to the television. Wifi is not presently available although we are exploring this as a future service.

Q)   Can meals be provided / served at the Tait-Duke Community Cottage ?  Are there coffee or tea making facilities ?
A)   The Tait-Duke Community Cottage does have a small kitchen with refrigerator and microwave.  A kettle is provided for tea/coffee - but please bring your own tea bags/coffee.  The kitchen is suitable for serving pre-prepared meals but not for cooking meals.   There are a number of local businesses that will cater for events held at the cottage.   Please also note that groups are responsible for cleaning and rubbish removal after the event.  Cleaning services are not offered.

Q)   Is Crockery and Cutlery provided ?
